Top Ten Reasons for Joining GPCA

10.  BUILD OUR COMMUNITY!
By becoming a member of the Gloucester Pool Cottagers Association you join and help grow our community of informed residents.  Gloucester Pool, Little Lake, McLean Lake and Baxter Lake are OUR lakes. It’s OUR community and OUR home and cottage area!  We are the stewards of our lake and community and by knowing each other and staying informed we will ensure it remains a special place for residents, cottagers and visitors!

9.     JOIN OUR SOCIAL EVENTS, HAVE FUN AND MEET NEW PEOPLE!
Each year there are 10 or more events for residents and cottagers of all ages sponsored by the GPCA.  These range from our Spring Fling dinner to Sailing School to the Canoe for Cancer!

8.     SUPPORT GPCA’S WATER QUALITY TESTING PROGRAM!
Every summer the GPCA conducts independent water quality testing and findings are recorded and published.

7.     SUPPORT THE CANADA GEESE EGG OILING PROGRAM!
Every year members of the GPCA run a program to control the Canada Geese population with a Ministry of the Environment approved program of applying vegetable oil to Canada Geese eggs.  This is a critical program as Canada Geese can become a significant source of EColi contamination in lakes.  It is estimated that since the beginning of this program over 300 eggs have been oiled. Since these birds produce a 6-8 offspring per year it is likely that there are over a thousand fewer geese on our lakes! Since each goose produces 1 lb of fecal matter daily this activity has done a great deal to preserve our water quality!

6.     STAY INFORMED ABOUT IMPORTANT MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS AND TRENT SEVERN WATERWAYS ISSUES!
The GPCA maintains liaisons with local governments and we keep our membership informed of important issues.  The GPCA does not take a stance on issues, but if important issues arise, we let our members know what is going on!

5.     GET A DETAILED MAP OF OUR LAKES AND HAVE YOUR COTAGE LOCATION IDENTIFIED ALONG WITH OTHER GPCA MEMBERS!
Every few years the GPCA publishes a map of the lake showing all lake details and cottages.  Members can have their cottage location and contact information listed so we can all find each other! (opting out for privacy reasons is possible).  Our next map is due for release soon!

4.     Annual Magazine!
Every spring the highly anticipated GPCA newsletter is published with articles about the goings on in our community, our lakes’ history, past summer highlights, winners of photo contests and news of exciting events coming in the next season!

3.     RECEIVE EMAILS UPDATES ABOUT COMMUNITY EVENTS OR OTHER IMPORTANT NOTICES AFFECTING OUR COMMUNITY!
Receive emailed Newsletters - Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.  Each containing information on GPCA's events and activities as well as local news and updates from Georgian Bay and Severn Township.

2.     OUR WEBSITE  - www.gloucesterpool.ca
You can submit photos of events, check event dates, stay informed about our community.

1.     A BARGAIN
At $40.00 per year the entire family receives all of these benefits.  Why wait?
